40% of Canada's petrochemical industry is located in a 25km-squared area called The Chemical Valley, and beside it, is a First Nation called Aamjiwnaang, an Indigenous community that routinely complains about shocking occurences of cancer and other illness. And despite the WHO at one time giving the region the unwelcome title of the "Worst Air" in all of Canada, little government action has been taken.
In 2013, Patrick McGuire spent time with the community of Aamjiwnaang, and spoke to the decision makers in govenrment and Sarnia's petrochemical industry to expose this underreported conflict to the world. And unfortunately, not much has changed since.
