Shortly after he was elected Prime Minister, Patrick McGuire and VICE Canada approached Justin Trudeau with an idea: to visit a First Nation in Canada that had no clean water and produce a documentary following his first-hand experience confronting the community. He accepted quickly. And so a historic visit to Shoal Lake 40 was planned.

The community is on the border of Ontario and Manitoba and it's only accessible by boat. While he was there, Mr. Trudeau visited the youth of Shoal Lake, spoke with its leaders, and heard challenging personal stories. He also delivered heavy jugs of bottled water to the people who need it.

Hosted by Sarain Carson-Fox, Cut-Off provided a sobering look at the severe living conditions in some First Nation communities and exposed the underreported crisis of water access in Canada.
