The Mission to Resurrect the Woolly Mammoth

The Mission to Resurrect the Woolly Mammoth

Patrick mcguire is the executive producer & Producer of the mission to resurrect the woolly mammoth (2015)

As permafrost melts at an increasing rate due to climate change, it's becoming more and more common for woolly mammoth tusks and frozen mammoth meat to be recovered in the unforgiving cold of Siberia.

But if that wasn't already a fascinating nugget of environmentally concerning prehistoric discovery, those mammoth remains are part of a fascinating supply chain that begins in the black markets of Siberia and ends in the laboratories of South Korea, where scientists are actively working — right now — to try and clone the woolly mammoth.

Patrick McGuire and VICE Canada produced this Webby award winning documentary, hosted by reporter Ben Makuch, about the bizarre and international quest to clone the mammoth by travelling to Siberia, Russia, and South Korea to meet the faces of this prehistoric cloning mission.
