Kim Dotcom: The Man Behind Megaupload

After reporting on his case, Patrick McGuire became fascinated with Kim Dotcom — the larger than life hacker turned file-sharing mogul who attracted the ire of Hollywood and the US Government and ended up being the target of a heavily armed raid, complete with helicopters and SWAT cops, which seized his many cars and luxury items, at his mega mansion in New Zealand where he was placed under house arrest.

Patrick McGuire visited that infamous mansion in 2013 to meet Kim and interview him with reporter Tim Pool about his fight against the US government and his thoughts about the future of the internet. He also sat in on a recording session for Kim's pop album.

Used as one of the launch tentpoles of VICE News in 2014, the documentary has received over 5 million views on YouTube.
